Maximum Fou is a play on words, a foulard is French for a scarf. Also "fou" means crazy in French, but it is also like the "fu" as in Kung Fu. The "fu" in Kung Fu means "master". So Maximum Fu plays with the concept of going overboard and pushing things to their limit, being dominant with a healthy dose of madness. Maximum Fou is the perfect way to describe our scarves and how we want them to empower the wearer.
Parisians have a simple and elegant sense of style that relies heavily on accessorising their outfits. The silk scarf has long been associated with a past generation, something older women would wear, and a bit boring. The concept behind Maximum Fou is to take the silk scarf and re-energize it with new art styles that convey a flirtatious and daring attitude. The scarf is an almost perfect accessory, and our aim is create scarves with art that starts conversations and put the wearer in the spotlight in any room they walk into.

This quote from a poem by Bukowski exactly sums up the inspiration behind Maximum Fou.
When we started this endeavour, quality was of the utmost importance in the art, the printing and material. Every aspect of these scarves needed to be on point. When someone took a Maximum Fou scarf out of its box for the first time and held it in their hands, the quality, softness and thickness of the silk needed to be felt immediately. Next the printing quality also had to do justice to the artwork, the color the sharpness of the lines. These scarves take one month to produce and that is because of the time it takes to get the level of quality that we were after.
THE ARTWORK
We have been very fortunate to have worked with world class international artists, mainly in the street art genre for many years. Besides working with very well established artists, our focus has been seeking out the hidden gems of relatively unknown artists that are undiscovered talents producing incredible work. With Maximum Fou, our forte is the art because we have been immersed in the art world trying to see as much as we can. We are going to art shows in major cities, spending inordinate amounts of our time on Instagram, all in order to be visually saturated by art so that when an image does stand out to us, it's because it is extraordinary. These are the images of quality we want to have on our scarves.
